Holiday Happenings

Life continues to be fast paced at our house this Christmas season. I have been exhausted trying to keep up with it all but it has been much fun.

Brynn got this Christmas gift from her great grandma and it is a really neat idea. It is called Elf on the Shelf. The gist of it is, the book comes with this little doll elf that the child gives a name to. (ours is Joey Elf - after her imaginary friend Joey) The story tells how Santa knows if a child has been naughty or nice is because her elf watches her during the day and when she sleeps he goes back to the North Pole with all of the other elves and reports to Santa on how she was that day. When he comes back he's always in a different spot. She has enjoyed looking for his new watching spot each morning. I can't say it has made her anymore obedient though, but it will be a new fun family tradition.

Our small group got together and made gingerbread houses. It was a lot of fun with lots of sugar. Brynn was so doped up on all the candy that didn't make it onto her house but into her mouth. Whew! That was a night!

Brynn and I went to a Christmas Teddy Bear Tea Party at the Royal Park Hotel. We got invited last minute and it turned out to be a lot of fun. We had tea and finger foods and treats. They also had story time and got to take home a little tea cup and saucer. In the lobby of the hotel was this GIANT gingerbread house...a for real homemade gingerbread house!

Derek continues to be such a joy. He is so sweet and calm mannered. He's really into laughing and talking to you. His arms and legs are always moving around and he enjoys trying to grab the toys that hang from his little gym he sits under. He is getting pretty good at getting them! He is almost 11 weeks old now and just went for his 2 month check up last Wednesday. He is 14lbs (90%) and 24.5 inches (95%)! He's been starting to sleep 9-10 hrs a night so that is way awesome.

He kicked and cooed and batted at his toys for an hour and a half
and then feel asleep. He looked so peaceful.

That tea party looked so neat. It was great to see you (even though we didn't get a chance to talk) on Sunday. You have a beautiful family!

I did some looking into the Elf on the Shelf book - you can get it on Amazon for $44.95. Ouch! They also have an official website too that the kiddos might enjoy along with it.
